The Arc of St. Clair County, Alabama, Inc. was established in October 1973 with the purpose of advocating for services for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The sole role of the organization was to pursue equal access, to develop support services, and to advise and aid parents in solution-focused problem solving. In response, The Arc of St. Clair County expanded services to provide additional in-home support in efforts to prevent institutionalization and encourage social integration.

The Arc of St. Clair County currently provides day habilitation, residential habilitation, personal care services, community experience, and positive behavior support services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our program promotes the philosophy that all people with intellectual disabilities are interdependent members of their community and therefore reserve the right to receive support in community living, recreation, and personal development.

Vision:

The Arc of St. Clair County will support individuals with IDD in their community thus leading to a life of dignity and respect, opportunity and community inclusion for all.
